Meet The Team

Principal, Gemma Welch

Gemma (BA Hons) has several years experience in both the dance world and educational establishments. As an ex-English teacher in a busy secondary school and a current Guide Leader, Gemma can bring those skills into her dance and drama lessons to make them fun but purposeful.
Gemma currently teaches the majority of our Street, Freestyle, Musical Theatre / Drama and Ballroom  / Latin classes with the support of other trainee teachers and dance coaches.

Gemma is continuing to develop her own personal portfolio whilst supporting other students and trainee teachers along their own dance pathways.

Current qualifications include: Fellow with the IDTA with qualifications in Freestyle, Latin, Ballroom and Musical Theatre; ABD Acrobatic Dance, IDTA Anatomy and Physiology Diploma.

Vice Principal, Jackie Welch

Jackie is a retired nurse and midwife who has also had several years experience working in a secondary school, firstly as a Pastoral Manager and later as a Health Adviser.

Whilst she does not attend weekly lessons, Jackie is known to our students for her seamstress skills and for supporting all of our extra-curricular activities (such as exams and competitions). She will always go out of her way to ensure that our dancers are happy and comfortable.
DBS checked, First Aid qualification renewed bi-annually.

  Miss Gemma Scott (Teacher) 

Gemma  is our main Theatre teacher, taking responsibility for all of our ballet, tap and gymnastic dance classes with the support of our dance coaches.
Gemma has been dancing since she was a child and is an extremely enthusiastic teacher with over 4 years experience teaching core subjects. Her main passion is ballet and tap but she has experience in several genres.
Her current IDTA qualifications include: Licentiate Ballet, Level 4 Diploma Tap, Associate Freestyle, Gymnastic Diploma and Anatomy and Physiology Diploma. She is also a qualified Cheerleading teacher with Building the Ground Up Cheer.
DBS checked and First Aid Trained.

  Miss Katie Harris (Trainee Teacher) 

Katie studied ballet and tap as a young child as well as successfully completing a Dance GCSE before coming to us where she now specialises in Freestyle and Street (scoring honours in several examinations).
Katie assists with several classes whilst working towards her IDTA professional qualifications.

Miss Emily Aston

Emily (BA Hons) has not long left university and is full of enthusiasm. She is keen to help our dancers develop their personal skills in preparation for competitions as well as working with both beginner and advanced adult dancers.

Emily has danced since she was a small child in various genres. 
Qualifications: IDTA Level 4 Teaching Diploma in Freestyle Dance.

Miss Emily Harris

Emily is new to our team but full of enthusiasm. Whilst her speciality is Ballroom and Latin, she is also qualified in Freestyle and happy to help in all genres.

Emily has been dancing from the tender age of 3 and is keen to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with other dancers.

DBS checked  and First Aid trained.

Ms Jayne Harris

Jayne is our Stay and Play Coordinator, qualified in Childcare and Health and Social Care.  She also holds her Food Hygiene certificates and you will frequently find her in the kitchen, cooking our delicious breakfasts or serving tuck and refreshments to our dancers and parents.  As a mother to 4 herself, she is a natural with all children.
